Cloudforests Announces Groundbreaking Partnership With The Native Irish Honey Bee Society.

The exciting news just keeps on coming here at Cloudforests. Today, we are announcing our intention to Undertake the role of a Conservation Area for Apis mellifera mellifera (Native Irish Honey Bees) in partnership with the Native Irish Honey Bee Society (N.I.H.B.S).

The Native Irish Honey Bee Society was established to promote the conservation of Apis mellifera mellifera throughout the island of Ireland. The Society strives to raise public awareness of our native honey bee and its importance. It also acts in an advisory capacity to groups and individuals wishing to promote and preserve it. Since its inception, NIHBS has made significant progress towards achieving its ultimate aims and objectives. Hopefully, with this partnership Cloudforests can assist in a major way in promoting the conservation of Apis mellifera mellifera throughout the island of Ireland and educating our community about the importance of our Native Honey Bee.

Our first conservation area will be located on our Cloudforest One site in Lahinch Co. Clare. This will be the first one of many Apis mellifera mellifera conservation areas in all of our Cloudforests all along the Wild Atlantic Way. 

We would like to say a big thank you to the Native Irish Honey Bee Society for their cooperation, and especially to Aideen Day, who has been our point of contact and has been a fountain of knowledge for us in our research into the  Apis mellifera mellifera. We look forward to working with Aideen, and the rest of the N.I.H.B.S over the coming months & years.
