Shelbourne Women’s National League Team Add 10 Trees to The Red Wood

Shelbourne’s Women's Team added an incredibly impressive 10 trees to the Red Wood last weekend, as they earned a comprehensive 10-0 victory over bottom-of-the-table Treaty United, as they extended their lead at the top of the table to 7 points.

Early goals from Jemma Quinn and Leah Doyle gave the visitors an early advantage. This was followed by a Noelle Murray double, scored either side of an own goal. Then, just before halftime, Pearl Slattery, slotted home a sixth. Quinn got her hat-trick with two more goals after the break, before Noelle got two more to secure her hat trick and to wrap a 10-0 rout of Treaty United. These 10 goals will directly translate to 10 trees being planted in the Red Wood Forest.

The Red Wood is a joint initiative between Cloudforests & Shelbourne and is the world’s first forest created in partnership with a football club. The forest will be planted in the coming months in Cloudforest Two, Carrigaholt, Co. Clare, along Irelands Wild Atlantic Way. The Red Wood will be populated by trees planted for every goal that the club’s men’s and women’s teams score during their respective 2022 campaigns (along with attendances @ Tolka Park throughout the Season).

Congratulations to the Shelbourne's Women’s Team on a great win & an incredible start to the season, winning 12 matches from a possible 15 & scoring 43 goals. Each one of these goals will equate to a tree being planted in the Red Wood, which will then suck carbon out of the air & make planet earth cool! Overall, we have 123 trees to be planted in the Red Wood (Mens & Women's Teams) so far, with just over half the season done.
