TowerHill Rovers Clinch the CCFL Division 1 Title - Community News Update

It was a busy weekend for all our community teams at Cloudforests. We had plenty of goals, a few winning teams & we even had one of our community teams win their league title on Sunday Morning.

TowerHill Rovers

This weekend Towerhill Rovers managed to beat Mullingar Athletic, to clinch the CCFL Division 1 title in the final game of the season this morning in Portlaoise Leisure Centre. Towerhill Rovers had to win the game and clinch all three points to win the league as Mullingar Atheltic were one point ahead heading into this final day decider. Luckily, Shane Collins scored a goal early in the second half to secure the victory & bring the Division 1 Title to Portlaoise.

A special mention too, 18-year old Cian Culleton, who made two magnificent saves just before halftime including a brilliant fingertip save from point-blank range to keep the sides level at half-time.

Big Congratulations to the Towerhill Rovers players & coaching staff, who worked hard throughout the whole season to achieve this incredible achievement. They’ve done the Cloudforests Community proud!

Shelbourne Academy Teams

Our Shelbourne Academy Teams had quite a mixed weekend with one win, two draws & one loss. The U-17 Women’s Team had a great victory over Peamount over the weekend. Hanna Healy, Ruby McCarthy & Katie McCarn were all on the scoresheet to make it three wins on the bounce. There was also an incredible double save by the U17W Keeper, Katie Keane.

Meanwhile, the U-19s & U-15s both had close fought 1-1 draws at the AUL on Sunday. The U-19s were playing Cobh Ramblers in the Enda McCuill Cup, whereas the U-15s had a league game against UCD.

Finally, the Shelbourne U-17s had a tough home loss to Dublin rivals, Shamrock Rovers at the AUL on Saturday. The game finished 3-1 in the end. Hopefully, they can bounce back next week!
