Na Deise Ladies Football Team (Sponsored by Cloudforests) Win the U15 Div 1 Waterford County Final

A massive congratulations to the Na Deise U15 Ladies Football Team who had a fantastic win last month in the Waterford Division 1 County Final in Dungarvan. We are proud to sponsor such an amazing team who have achieved so much. It’s a well-deserved recognition of all the hard work put in by the girls & their coaches.

As a member of our Community Teams programme, the Na Déise U15 Ladies Team, based in Modeligo and Touraneena, have already had a fantastic summer. The ladies secured their spot in the National Féile earlier this year when they won the U15 Waterford Féile. This was a huge achievement for the team and the local community.

This led them to the GAA’s National Games Development Centre at the National Sports Campus in Abbotstown for the John West Féile Peile na nÓg Ladies Football Finals 2022. Unfortunately, after winning two games & being very close in the other two, the girls lost out to the eventual winners of their competition, St. Ergnats.

Luckily, the County Final, which occurred on the 25th of September, was more fruitful for them. After a great game played between two great sides, Na Deise & Ballymac, they were ultimately the better team & secured a well-deserved victory.

We’re so grateful to be a small part of such a special team & we’d like to thank Dave Whelan, from Solar Evolution (CoolPartner 12) for giving us the opportunity to sponsor the team. We’d also like to give a special thanks to the Na Deise captain Anna Whelan, for mentioning us in her winning speech.

Unfortunately, Women's and girls’ sports are under-promoted, this is why we are so passionate about our support of our Community Teams, especially our female teams.

By the age of 14, girls drop out of sports at twice the rate of boys, and a recent LGFA statistic showed that 70% of girls drop out of Ladies' football by age 18.

These are facts and it’s clear watching this Na Deise team that this is not for a lack of passion or skill. This makes this achievement even more incredible & it’s important to acknowledge the coaches for keeping such a great team together, and hopefully, this golden generation stays together right the way through.

Congratulations again to everyone involved at Na Deise!
