Climate education

In February we worked with students and volunteers from Northwood Technology Ltd to plant 400 trees in Coolmine community school. This week we dropped in to check out how their Urban Forest was getting along.

it was amazing to see all of the trees thriving and the forest being used by students as an education space. We were delighted to see the students receiving a nature talk from their teacher, and our tree education resources will help the students in future sessions where they can use it to identify the species within their forest.

You can read more about the forest we created in Coolmine CS here.

We’re super proud of the work our team has been able to achieve in delivering last year’s programme of urban forest events for AWS InCommunities - but what makes it even better is the unique educational content we have been able to create that will be a resource for the schools in our programme for years to come. πŸŽ’ πŸ“š

Curated and created by Kim Lake, it highlights the work done by our CoolPartner Community, the unique trees planted and how to identify them through the seasons. It also highlights our incredible sponsor AWS InCommunities and our volunteers! 🌳

What is even better in our opinion is the digital connection to the forest online which combines technology and nature for a better learning experience through a simple QR code. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» πŸ‘©β€πŸ’»
