END Team - 2021 Review
The Cloudforests Endurance Team (The END Team) was formed in March 2021. The aim of the project was to promote climate awareness through sport, especially cycling. The Team has a clear focus of competing in some of the toughest Endurance events and documenting how climate change is impacting the places they travel through. The team is more about promoting a new type of culture in cycling rather than being focused on results and is trying to get the word out about being healthy and encouraging others to get on a bike.
In 2021, our team leader, Paul, took part and won the Wild Mayo Ultra 650 race and also completed the entire Wicklow Way out and back in a fastest known time of 20 hours unsupported.
In 2022 Paul plans to take on the challenge of one of the worlds toughest backcountry routes, The Highland Trail 550 in Scotland. This will take him through the Scottish Highlands being completely self sufficient and racing others non stop on his mountain bike. This challenge will be the toughest he has had to face until now but he is looking forward to seeing what he can do.
